Hi,

I've been working on the feedback that I received from several people attending the Massive Black Reverie Workshop in Dallas. To make it short, I need to improve on line weight, atmospheric perspective and tangents to achieve an overall harmony. As a personal goal, I also want to practice drawing with light in order to gain a better understanding of tones.

The three images above are;
1-the final piece.
2-a quick tonal study of the materials and notes on areas of improvement
3-a thumbnail of the final piece dealing with composition, eye direction and basic tones

This is a painting that I had started previous to the Dr. Sketchy event. I wanted to do something that reflected the old glamor posters and magazines of my grandfather's time; back when smoking was not considered dangerous. In fact, if I recall correctly, in art history class, we looked at an old ad that said: "Have a healthy Marlboro" or whatever brand it was.

Anyways, hope you'll enjoy!

Dr. Sketchy is a group that mixes cabaret themes with life drawing in many cities of the US. These are quick digital studies done today at Dr. Sketchy in Austin. Poses vary in length between 1, 2, 3, 5 and 10 minutes.

Here are two caricature sketches of Kramer from Seinfeld and Ice Cube. These subjects are chosen pretty randomly. The main goal I'm setting myself in these exercises is likeness and exageration. As you can see, I'm still struggling with both. :) These are a lot of fun though!

This is an outdoor study in oils at Barton Springs. I think the background and foreground elements kind of blend into each other. It would be a better piece if they had more tonal seperation.
